Each year our family joins hand in hand to walk this 3.3 mile walk in memory of Patrick-Anthony. He was more than a son, brother, nephew, grandson, or friend. He was the light of all or our worlds.
In 2004 Patrick-Anthony was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. Huntington's Disease is a neurodengerative disease that robs the person of their ability to walk, talk, speak and eat. There is extremely limited treatment and no cure. Each person with HD has a life expectancy after diagnosis of 10-20 years. Once thought of as a "middle age" disease, Huntington's Disease has been found in children as yound as 2. It does not skip a generation. Each child with a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of being affected.
Patrick-Anthony knew of his outcome and took each day in stride. He taught us that life isn't about a "diagnosis" but it's about living each day to the fullest. He was a child of little words, but his smile would light up even the darkest days. His hugs were never ending and his spirit continues to live on.
Please give to TEAM PA's quest to fund a cure so that no one will live in fear that they too will lose a Patrick-Anthony.
