Golfers for Recovery
(First Giving and Red Cross stopped accepting donations for Japan Disaster Relief in February 2012. However, I will continue this Golfers for Recovery program in other ways.)
Some people in or from Japan may choose not to play golf for the time being, caring for those affected by the recent earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear accident.
Like after any disasters and tragedies, the world never look the same, and we feel a sense of guilt for having fun. I can understand that many people are not in a mood to play and enjoy.
However, I choose to go out on the course because I believe sticking to our normal routines helps us keep our spirits high and the economy going.
I admit that I am only trying to justify my passion for the game. But I also care. So I decided to make small contribution to recovery efforts a part of my game.
Goals:
I wish to donate and raise more than $3,000 under this long-term micro donation program. All the funds will go directly to American Red Cross, which I think is trustworthy and effective.
How it works:
I pledge to donate $1 each for pars that I make and $2 each for birdies. I will keep my score of every round and make donation at the end of each month.
If you join:
If you join me and make donation here, any amount any time, my company TransCap will make a dollar to dollar matching up to $1,500.
Not only Japan:
TransCap will divert additional 50% of its matching donation to other regions, such as Christ Church and Haiti, because we know it is not only Japan that has suffered and is struggling to recover.
Finally:
We golfers are supposed to be good at recovery. Let's make each shot count!
