Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
In February of 2010, I was hospitalized with DRESS syndrome, non-viral hepatitis, and heightened autoimmune response. Even though it was a very hard time, I met some great people. My roommate had JDM, and since then I have met a lot of others as well. Contributing to JDM helps doctors on my Rheumatology team, and can help gain insight into my autoimmune issues as well. There are many links we don't yet understand! I feel a strong bond with other kids suffering from JDM because even though it isn't my disease, we take many of the same medications, see the same doctors and have a lot of the same problems.
As of January of 2011, I have had a few more autoimmune diseases and conditions added to my diagnosis including Celiac's Disease, Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis, lipotrophia, eosinophilia, and the jury is still out on a couple more things that I won't mention unless they diagnose me for sure. So I keep going back to more doctors for more tests, more treatments and more problems. Many of the JM kids suffer fom multiple autoimmune diseases as well.
In late 2012, they have taken away my Celiac's diagnosis, but added Growth Hormone deficiency, insulin resistance (a precursor to autimmune diabetes) and a pituitary cyst. I am doing much better now, but still hope to hear that I will be in remission soon!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. When I was really ill, I started a bucket list. One of the things on my list was to raise $10,000 for charity on my own. That's why I started this page, I wanted to do something really great that could help a lot of people, and hopefully they wont have to go through what kids like Connor, Kory, Emma, Jaylin and even I have had to go through.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
