Hi and thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
Thank you for caring enough to continue your support for the Building Blocks for Africa project, the Sandota school, and the 3rd. annual Building Blocks 5K. This year your donations will benefit the AYA Teacher Training College in Nairobi, Kenya. This will help provide free training to teachers who work in schools serving orphans and desperately needy children. Giving these needy kids hope for the future through education.
Unlike last year, where I was trying to achieve a personal best, I can’t even promise I’ll be able to finish the race running. I’ve had some trouble with my knee and haven’t been running the last few weeks. Because of that, I had planned to skip this years race but after some thought, I decided it didn’t really matter if I ran or walked, it was all for a greater purpose anyway. I read an article in the local paper about a lady running the race. It will be her first 5k race and she wanted to do a race that “meant something”. As I thought about her words I realized she was so right. I thought about all the days I’ve run and all the other races. I looked back at my logs for the year and to date, I’ve run 977 miles this year. When I think about those miles, there are none that count for more than the 3.1 miles I’ll run this Saturday, none.
I know it's late in the week and I’m behind in my request but won’t you please consider giving to this worthy cause? Heck, come on over to Alcoa Middle School and run with me.
By the way, 93% of your donation reaches the AYA programs. 7% is for operational costs like wire transfer fees, postage, and office supplies. I will be paying the operational costs for each dollar you donate so that 100% of everything you give will be invested in this program.
Donating through this website is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
