This page is in memory of My Mother, Elizabeth Mateja, who suffered through a massive stroke in Oct. and Dec. of 2005.  She held on to life with amazing composure and strength despite ever increasing debilitation.  Her suffering ended in January 2008 as she passed on thru the veil of this life to join my Dad, Stanley Mateja, who passed on after enduring his own debilitating conditions, not related to stroke symptoms, in March of 1993.

With their memory in mind and their love in my heart, I will run the NYC MARATHON 2009 race in honor of both of them,  with the knowledge that they are together again, unencumbered and free of their pain and suffering.  I will indulge in the thought that they will have a choice viewing area to watch me run in my 18th NYC Marathon!!
