6th Annual MARK NOAH Game for Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome

Dear Friends and Family,

We thought we'd change things up a bit this year.  Instead of a walk at the end of summer, I wanted to invite you to meet me at a Fargo Force game to celebrate my accomplishments this year.  There we will join together our own team - the Markie Noah Fight for a Cure Team - to help further research into my rare syndrome called Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome. 

ABOUT THE SYNDROME:  Smith-Lemli-Opitz/RSH Syndrome (SLOS) is a recessive genetic disorder that affects the development of children before and after birth. In 1993, scientists learned that children with SLOS don't make enough of or process correctly -- CHOLESTEROL . Cholesterol is very important!  It is an essential cell coating nutrient that supports organ functioning and brain development. 100% of children born with SLOS have a mental impairment and, in many cases, severe physical and internal malformations that are life threatening.  Most children born with SLOS do not live past 1 year.  There are currently about 600 kids and adults living with this rare syndrome in the US.   (www.smithlemliopitz.org)

All of the money that we raise goes directly to the Smith-Lemli-Opitz/RSH Foundation, a national non-profit organization which helps to fund research grants and to advance treatment protocols for this currently incurable condition. News this year - Gretchen (my mom) is now president of the Smith-Lemli-Opitz Foundation.  She and the others in the organization volunteer their time so that fundraising dollars earned go towards research and family support.
