Pluto's fundraising page
Pluto is a stunning 18 month old male german shepherd who was recently dumped at a nearby shelter. Our volunteers were puzzled as to why his owners would leave such a handsome dog to fend for himself.
We now have our answer. We have learned that both of his hips are questionable, with one being worse off than the other. He is a good candidate for a 'salvage' procedure known as an "FHO" which will help to reshape his existing bone and improve his mobility. Our vet has told us this surgery is fairly simple and will correct his problems.
Pluto can have a long and happy life with our help. We would like to give Pluto the chance to have this surgery for one of his hips but we need your help to make this possible.
Pluto's surgery costs will top $2,400 when all is said and done. After surgery, we will place him in a quiet foster home where he will have 'crate rest' for 4-6 weeks, meaning that a volunteer will take him out to the yard in a sling so that he doesn't use his leg while it's mending.
April 21 Update
Pluto is currently staying with one of our GSROC foster parents while we work to raise money for his needed surgery. He loves people and plays well with other dogs. He has gone to the dog park for the first time and LOVED it. He played well and enjoyed his time. He met some kids there and did GREAT!
His foster mom is making sure he gets plenty of exercise and activity to prepare him for his surgery. Check out his new photo - he is hiking in the woods with his foster mom to build his endurance!
May 15th Update
Pluto came out to our Tustin PETSMART adoption event and did great! He is such a sweet dog! He enjoyed hanging out with all the other dogs and loved seeing all the people and kids. His foster mom reports that he does great on his hikes and trips to the dog beach! He is very strong and looks great! Please help us in our effort to raise enough funds to correct his hips. This sweet dog deserves a forever home!

Your gift in any amount to help Pluto is tax deductible. He has a long way to go to collect this large sum, but we know that if everyone pulls together, we can help this gorgeous adolescent dog live the life he was meant to have.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- please forward this page on to all the animal lovers you know who might be able to help.
