WE DID IT!!!
Thanks to your support we have met our goal of $5000.00 and will now receive our matching gift of $5000.00 promised by our donors. Thank you so much for your continued support.
All funds we receive above this amount will go towards other deserving dogs!
It's impossible to put a price tag on a precious animal's life.
No rescue wants to be in a position where financial resources are the decision maker between life and death. We don't regret our decision to keep fighting for Gustav in the least but unfortunately, reality has set in and we have a daunting vet bill to attend to. Our veterinary care givers were able to provide services at a reduced cost, but we still have a large balance haunting us.
Three dedicated animal lovers have come forward to offer us a Challenge Match to raise desperately needed funds to help Gustav pay his bills. For every dollar that we raise in March, (up to a total of $5,000) these wonderful friends will donate an equal amount!
If we can successfully raise $5,000 in March, we will receive a Matching Gift of an additional $5,000!
We are very excited about this opportunity and we know that we can hit our target with your help. No donation is too small or too large---remember, it will be doubled so that your gift can go twice as far! Please help us by spreading the word about Gustav's needs and about this amazing opportunity throughout March.
We look forward to sharing more great updates about Gustav's progress, as well as about the other deserving dogs in our care. Your support makes it possible for us to reach out to the dogs that have no one else to depend on. We may be their heroes, but YOU are our heroes!
We believe that we can achieve this with the support and love of our fellow animal lovers. Please take a moment to pledge a gift in any amount to help our orphans. Your tax deductible donation will allow us to continue our important work on behalf of injured, abandoned and abused German Shepherds, and it will put us one step closer to our goal! The deadline for submitting donations is March 31, 2011, so please help us to spread the word far and near.
Thank you for caring about homeless animals!
UPDATE: March 16, 2011
Gustav continues to improve each day. He has gained 20 pounds and he is sprouting "fuzz" which will eventually grow into a nice new coat. His once-floppy ears are standing up most of the time now.
He still goes to see each of his vets every week--one for his skin and the other to check on his overall progress post-surgery. The number of medications that he is on has been reduced, but he still requires several prescriptions. He is a model patient and never grumbles at all.
His foster parents have been taking him out on errands so that he doesn't think that every time he goes in the car it means another trip to the vet. He is very good when meeting new people and even made friends with a cat!
UPDATE MARCH 21, 2011
Gustav is enjoying life and doing well. When it is time to eat he is dancing on the floor in circles, so happy and excited, when we are ready to take walks he can't get out fast enough, he loves being outside, and playing............he can play with his foster siblings 24/7 !
He is now 60 pounds (yes 60!) and getting really STRONG, he will be a BIG boy for sure. He walks much better now, getting more and more fur and looks like a typical GSD puppy:-) He also got some new toys, the cute little stuffed animals he had are all gone now...............he is a big boy that likes to chew.
UPDATE March 24, 2011:
Gustav snuck into his mom's bed and begged to have his picture taken!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- please forward this page on to all the animal lovers you know who might be able to help.
