Gwen Denard's Fundraising Page
Hello there.
Well, it's happened again - I signed up for something ridiculous and unhealthy. Ridiculous, because since the invention of the automobile early last century there is absolutely no good reason for any human being to deliberately run 26.2 miles. As far as the health factors go, I have cramps and blisters that will back me up on this. Marathons are for the birds.
So why run it? Glad you asked. As my main man Kenny Powers once said, "If there's one thing I hate, it's losing. If there's two things I hate, it's losing, and cancer." Truer words have rarely been spoken by a man sporting such a glorious mullet! And in that spirit, myself and a team of friends are trying to raise as much money as we can to fight cancer.
My good friend Sarah lost her sister Payton to carcinoid cancer a little over 3 years ago - she was only 29. It is in her honor that Sarah created this team, with which she has been running and raising money for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation for the past couple years. They're a great nonprofit which funnels all of their resources into research for a cure to carcinoid cancer - they even have volunteers handle the administrative side of things to maximize the impact of every dollar they receive. So to wrap this up on a serious note, I would like to ask that you please consider making a donation - don't go depriving yourself of food or beer - even small donations are greatly appreciated.
I would also like to recognize and thank those of you who have made offline donations (which are not subject to the 7% commission that firstgiving takes!):
Parents: $95
Terry Dove: $20
