Halee Newby's fund raising page
It is hard to believe that it was three years ago May that Halee was dianosed with Lupus. As a freshman we expected a lot of things to change, growing up, LOTS of homework and all of the other things that come along with this major milestone. What we didn't expect was Halee missing 186 classes this year due to two major flares. We believe that the flares were caused by all of the various "gunk" going around at Homestead and the normal stress associated with one's freshman year. Needless to say missing that much academically and socially took it's toll on Halee. Additionally Halee has experienced more organ involvement due to these flares-we have learned that Lupus is unpredictable and VERY nasty.
We were so sorry to miss the Mount Mary Walk this year but have another fun event planned! Libby Montana's restaurant in Mequon has donated the use of their volleydome. She will be hosting a competitive and recreational tournament, paying cash prizes. In addition to volleyball we will have bingo, a dunk tank, a 50/50 game as well as a lot of silent auction items! We are very grateful to Libbys and Amy Ollman and her team from Remingtons in Thiensville for the donation of food and drink and a lot of hard work. Please try to join us on July 30th! for more information please feel free to email me and I will get you the registration information!
Earlier this year a new drug was released, one specific for Lupus. Unfortunately for us, for now, the drug hasn't been tested on African Americans-we also aren't in favor of giving our own child a drug that is fresh on the market. With that being said we are also very excited about the new drug as once a drug maker gets on the scene-usually advertising increases and therefore Lupus awareness!!
As always, thank you for your support!
the Newby family.
