Founded in 1969 by a group of Native American volunteers, AICH is a grassroots organization that works to improve the status of Native Americans and foster inter-cultural understanding.
Since its inception, AICH has grown into a multi-faceted social support agency and cultural center that serves the 68,000 Native Americans that live in New York City and surrounding metro area. AICH membership is currently composed of Native Americans from 72 different Nations. The Native American migration between urban centers and reservations demonstrates the inter-connection of all Native Americans and from this reality emerges the recognition that our issues and concerns are truly shared.
