Harry Nurkin's Page
This is with a heavy heart that I write to all of our family and friends to tell you that our dear Harry Nurkin, my love of my life has left this life and has gone to a peaceful place to be with the Lord and be free of his pain.
I cannot convey the deep appreciation I have and Harry had for all of your love and support throughout this very short time. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in early August and only lived a short two months.
The last entry he made was on his way to the hospital on Wednesday October 5th. His concern was to let everyone know what was happening to him, but he wanted to make sure I was ok. That was always Harry's concern for me and for others.
Harry went to the hospital because the last Chemo was too brutal for his body and he just could not combat the effects and the disease. The Drs. and Nurses at CMC were fantastic and took such good care of us.
It is almost poetic that Harry Nurkin built CMC and CHS into the most dynamic medical center in the Southeast and this is where he spent his last days. He was not alone and his family surrounded him with love. I held his hand, loved on him and was with him until his last breath.
We are all forever changed for the better for having known and loved this man. He is finally resting and at peace.
Love your family and your friends for we are only on this earth a short while.
Thank you for all your prayers.
