Thank you for visiting Whitney Young's 2012 AIDS Walk fundraising page. 100% of all donations collected on behalf of Whitney Young will be used to assist HIV/AIDS patients who receive care at Whitney Young.

Specifically, funds raised through the AIDSWalk will be put into the WMY Client Emergency Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to provide assistance to HIV+ individuals receiving medical care and high-risk individuals receiving prevention services through the HIV Services Program. Patients experiencing financial crises and have depleted all other financial resources will be eligible for assistance. Funds will also be used to support treatment adherence groups targeting communities of color. Groups meet on a bi-weekly basis with an enrollment of 6-8 members in each group.

Client emergency funds will be used for:
• Emergency food supplies and household supplies when relocating
• Emergency transportation assistance
• Incentives for treatment adherence support groups

The Client Emergency Fund removes the barriers of access to care for HIV+ patients. It also provides the necessary supports needed to engage patients and high-risk individuals in interventions that serve to reduce the risk of HIV transmission in the community. We expect that adherence to treatment will improve. Clinical outcomes for the patient population will also improve.
