Heath Helton's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page for Special Olympics Arkansas' Polar Plunge 2010. I’m excited about the upcoming event and look forward to participating in my 2nd super plunge for Special Olympics. People often ask, “Why do you put yourself through that much punishment?” Well it’s simple… I enjoy being able to watch these incredible athletes compete and enjoy the spirit of competition that touches your soul; and, knowing they live by an oath that challenges them: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” This is what motivates me!
My fellow teammates and I will begin plunging at noon on December 10th into Lakewood Lake #3 (North Little Rock) and continue to plunge every hour for 24 hours straight!
I’ve had the honor of participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics over several years, as well as, several other events associated with this great organization. It’s truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and something I’ve been able to share with my wife and kids, who love going to the Special Olympics games.
My goal is to raise $2,000. I know that's a lot but I am determined to meet this challenge; however, I cannot do this alone and need all the help I can get! If you know others that might want to donate or sponsor me, please send them a link to my page! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Okay, okay but what is my money going to?" Special Olympics are a year-round international program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The program gives Arkansas’ athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Your donation will also assist Special Olympics Arkansas in reaching our total fundraising goal of $750,000.
Many thanks for your support and remember, “Young people need models, not critics."
