Henry's Heroes
Henry DiClementi is a 15-year-old Glenbrook North Student from Northbrook who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) on Nov. 18, 2009. After six months of intensive chemotherapy, Henry’s luck changed and he achieved remission from the life threatening cancer. Henry spent the next six months with the friends he missed and doing what he loves – fishing, canoeing, and collecting World War II memorabilia. His quick wit and sharp sense of humor returned ten-fold with a new outlook on life.
Shortly after re-entering GBN, Henry relapsed – the leukemia had returned. On October 18, 2010, Henry and his family were informed that he needed a bone marrow transplant. Initial searches could not find a suitable donor for Henry, but just recently they have discovered a near-perfect match in Germany! Henry is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation in preparation for his transplant, and awaiting the arrival of his donor.
With the emotional and financial stress of fighting cancer, friends and neighbors of the DiClementi family have established a fundraising effort known as Henry’s Heroes to help off-set the substantial out-of-pocket expenses, and lost wages associated with Henry’s care. We are asking for your support to help this family through their toughest battle yet. The need is urgent…please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Leukemia Research Foundation/Henry’s Heroes Fund. Just click on the “Donate” button to activate your support! A small portion of the funds raised here will also go toward helping other families in the Chicago area who are facing the same battle as the DiClementi’s. Please click on the LRF logo to see a short video about the Leukemia Research Foundation.
On behalf of the DiClementi family and friends, we thank you!
Sincerely,
The Henry’s Heroes Committee
