Dance-a-Thon
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! Heritage Works is seeking $10, $65, $110 gifts or any gift amount you can pledge for our upcoming dance-a-thon. Why? Read on!
On July 23rd, youth from Detroit and Flint, Michigan will participate in a 5-hour African Dance and Drum-a-thon in order to raise dollars for costumes and workshops with master artists. These young Detroiters and Flintstones are participating in the Michigan African Dance and Drum Youth Project. This project involves four troupes from Southeast Michigan and culiminates in outdoor concerts, workshops and a parade the weekend of August 19-21, 2011.
Each youth has a goal of $65 -110 for a grand total of $2600-$4400. Your gift will help us reach our goal. A gift of:
-$10 will pledge one youth for 5 hours of dance or drum.
-$65 will purchase a costume outright, preparing one youth for his/her concert and parade performances.
-$110 will purchase a costume for one youth and his/her admission to four master artist workshops and an evening tannabar celebration. A tannabarr is a Senegalese dance and drum party and an opportunity to see traditional dance forms in context.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to supporting this fundraising effort.
