Welcome to the HJ Sims fundraising page for the 2012 Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon, being held on August 23rd!! Our crack team consists of Shane Appelbaum, Les Campbell, Barbara Desiderio, Cliff Edelmann and Robert Salles. We don't know much about bowling, but if there's a municipal bond emergency at the lanes, we'll be REALLY well prepared.
Mostly, we put this team together to get some free beer, and to raise some money for a great cause. Junior Achievement ("JA") is a nonprofit organization which teaches financial literacy and entrepreneurship to 4 million U.S. students each year, with the help of 178,000 volunteers. JA empowers young people to ensure their own economic success, by helping them develop the skills they need in the 21st-century global marketplace.
Here in south Florida, JA reaches nearly 50,000 each year, including nearly 40,000 5th and 8th graders, at the beautiful new JA World Huizenga Center, located at Broward College in Coconut Creek. Click on the link to right of this story, to view a brief video of this great facility.
JA is a non-profit organization that doesn't get a penny from the government, or even United Way. We are supporting JA because we think it's a great way to invest in our community, and our young people. Please join us -- give a little, or give a lot!
Thanks!
