Born with a heart defect and an immune deficiency that severely limited her contact with the outside world, Sophie Collier of Westfield was not expected to celebrate her first birthday. Sophie, however, beat all the odds and helped blaze a trail for at-risk infants with similar medical challenges. Sophie survived two open heart surgeries thanks to her nationally renowned pediatric surgeons at Riley Hospital. Now 10, Sophie and her family have become advocates for Riley Hospital and appreciate the opportunity to share their Riley story to raise awareness for the hospital that saved her life. Sophie personifies the hope that happens every day at Riley Hospital.
