West Seattle Yard Sale and Lemonade Stand
Thank you for visiting our Personal Fundraising Page.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation supports childhood cancer research with a focus on improving the availability of new treatments for children currently undergoing treatments for difficult to cure cancers-such as brain tumors, leukemia, lymphoma, retinoblastoma, neuroblastoma, Ewing's sarcoma and Wilm's tumor-among others.
Since our daughter was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in 2005, we have come to know too many children that have lost their lives to cancer. Our goal is to help fund research that leads to a cure.
Neuroblastoma is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in nerve tissue of the adrenal gland, neck, chest, or spinal cord. Many times when neuroblastoma is diagnosed, the cancer has usually metastasized (spread) most often to the lymph nodes, bones, bone marrow, liver, and skin. High risk patients endure very aggressive therapy including high dose chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell transplant, and more. Neuroblastoma also has a high rate of relapse and is often more challenging to cure.
Sylvia was diagnosed with intermediate risk Neuroblastoma shortly after her first birthday. Her treatment has consisted of 4 cycles of chemotherapy and 4 surgeries. We are grateful that she is doing well and has been in clinical remission for 2 years.
ALSF gives grants to doctors who are in search of cures, causes, and less toxic treatments for children with cancer. Many of the grants increase the number of children entered into clinical trials, and like Alex, prolong and increase their quality of life. ALSF has a direct impact on children with cancer in each of the grants awarded.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Congratulations to Barbara W. who won this year's "Silly Safari" child's twin quilt made for this event by JanKat! A big thank you to all that helped make this event a success by donating items, volunteering your time, and of course your donation....every bit helps!
