MS Global 2012 Lake Tahoe - Jack Irving

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I am asking for your support to help fight Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I have learned much about this disease since I began volunteering for both the Colorado MS 150 bike ride and MS Global bike rides. I have watched my friend Jimmy D, who used to race his bike professionally and taught me so much about this sport; slowly deteriorate from riding his bike to riding a wheel chair. This happened in a span of five years! There is no cure for MS, and nobody really knows the cause(s). That’s why the work being done by Accelerated Cure Project (ACP) is so important. Despite decades of diligent research by scientists worldwide, nobody fully understands what causes MS, what triggers a relapse, or what causes lasting disability in people with MS. Accelerated Cure Project is helping scientists to get to the bottom of these questions. Their ultimate goal is to produce knowledge that can be used to stop the effects of the disease in people with MS, and prevent MS in people who are at risk. They are also helping scientists develop safer, more effective treatments and to create new methods for diagnosing MS. For the last five years I have committed to raising at least $3,500.00 in donations to contribute to this cause. With your help, I have exceeded that commitment every year. I hope you will be able to help me exceed my goal this year too. I also commit to riding my bike as much as 500 miles in one week with hard mountain climbs as part of the MS Global cycling team.
MS Global is a physical challenge mirroring the struggles of individuals with MS. Some days, an individual with MS wakes up to no struggles. Other days, they are faced with symptoms that make climbing out of bed like climbing up the Alpe d'Huez. MS Global is also a financial challenge because of the commitment we each make to raise more money than we think is possible plus, we pay our expenses for the ride. We do this so that every cent we raise will be donated to ACP. By reaching out to the community, we will increase the awareness of the disease and the need to find a cure. ACP has a 4 Star rating from Charity Navigator, so you can be assured that your donation will be used responsibly and efficiently.

Last year's ride in Canada was awesome!  This year, we are back in the USA and will be touring the Lake Tahoe area.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
