February 2011 Update:
It is now over a year since the devastating earthquake that affected Haiti and the children and local population are still feeling the pain of the devastation, with the addition of recent flooding, and an outbreak of Cholera.
Jack and I have asked PLAN USA to dedicate our funds raised so far (over 60% of our goal) to be dedicated to treating the outbreak of Cholera for the children of Haiti. Please help us reach our goal of $10,000.00 and feel the reward of helping the children and local citizens of Haiti recover from all this devastation. PLAN USA controls the funds to be sure they are used directly for this project.
Please consider supporting us in our quest of dedicating this fund to controlling the outbreak of Cholera in Haiti.
Thank you! ~Meghan and Jack
Please see below our original letter when we started this project in April, 2010 and hope to continue until we reach our goal.
Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of this Cause,
All of you know by now about the extremely devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010. It is going to cost billions of dollars to rebuild their country, which was already in such dire need before this horrible event took place. During Jack’s spring soccer season this year, he is looking to have friends and family sponsor the goals he scores for his Medfield team. As news coverage of Haiti starts to fade, Jack’s hope is to continue the awareness of this tragedy and raise a significant amount of money to help Haiti's children and their families.
The money raised will be distributed through Plan USA. Plan is an international organization, which assists children throughout the world and has had a presence in Haiti for over 35 years. We encourage you to visit Plan's website for more information - PlanUsa.org. If we are able to raise $10,000, PLAN will direct the funds for a specific use, such as medical equipment and medication for Haitian children. This is Jack's goal.
Jack and I are hoping to get financial support from many local businesses and the support from our friends and family. Shalrie Joseph, a player for the New England Revolution, who is a friend of Jack’s, has already offered to help support our fundraiser by sponsoring Jack directly and in other yet to be determined ways.
If everyone gave $5 per goal that Jack scores during his spring soccer season, we will hopefully reach our goal of $10,000. Jack’s season starts on April 3rd and goes into June. If you prefer to make a fixed donation, you can do so on this webpage.
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to consider helping Jack and me in raising money for such a good cause.
