Dear Friends and Family,
On June 10, 2012, we will be participating in the 9th Annual Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Race/Walk to Cure ALS. This event raises money towards a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative illness that attacks motor neurons leading to atrophy and paralysis.
We are running in memory of our Uncle and Brother, Brian Cody, who made a lasting impact on our lives before he passed away at the age of 39, after suffering from ALS. We're running to remember his spirit, humor, and competitive athleticism. In his life, he always worked to help others as a teacher, mentor, and volunteer with the non-profit One with One. He was an inspiration to many when he was living, and he continues to be one now.
Up until his death, he made the most of each moment and always maintained his enthusiasm for life: "I live each day fully, joyfully, and hopefully, thanking God for all the blessings in life". "I am genuinely happy."
Every dollar that we raise will be directed to UMass Medical Center where Dr. Robert Brown and his colleagues are doing groundbreaking research toward a cure for this devastating disease. All donations are tax deductible and company matching contributions are highly appreciated.
We’ve run in this race for the last several years and this year we’d like to raise even more than ever! Please help us reach our ambitious goal – this year it is $2,000! Every dollar donated will truly bring us closer to a cure - keep Brian's giving spirit alive by donating what you can. Let's work towards the attainable goal of finding a treatment or cure for ALS in our lifetime!
Click the DONATE button, or if you prefer, please make a check out to "The Angel Fund" and mail it to us. We will add all mailed donations to our site as well.
We appreciate your generosity, and the continued support that many of you have provided over the years. For more information about ALS, the Sharon Timlin Event, or to register to run/walk, please visit www.sharontimlinrace.org
Thank you,
Jackie & Lianne
