Support our Walk for Autism!
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page for the Walk for Autism.
As many of you know we have 4 children, Jessica (almost 7 yo), Eric (4.5 yo), Gabriel (almost 3 yo) and Susannah (1 yo). Both Jessica & Eric have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder. Gabriel has developmental & speech delays. He also exhibits characteristics that are similar to autism as well but has not been diagnosed at this point yet.
The current statistics show a child with autism is born in 1 out of every 166 births. These children look normal at first glance, or they just may seem undisciplined or hyperactive. But it is not just a lack of discipline ... Autism is a life long disorder which can affect an individual's behavior, sensory integration, gross & fine motor development, ability to communicate, sensory integration, cognition, and understanding of basic social interactions. These children may have trouble dealing with events & daily routines. Their struggles might not make any sense to you and me, but their fears and confusion are very real.
However, with early intervention and behavior therapy, much progress can be made to help these children become happier, adapt to their world and ultimately make them more productive members of our society someday.
Unfortunately, therapies like this are rarely covered by insurance and parents are having to pay thousands of dollars to cover services for their children. Money raised here will go directly to scholarships that help cover the costs of therapy for their kids.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support. Please feel free to forward this web address on to anyone with an interest in helping families who have been affected by the autism epidemic.
God Bless you.
