Huntington's disease is a devastating disorder affecting over 30,000 people in the United States . The fatal disease gradually causes total physical and mental deterioration over a period of 12-15 years. Symptoms usually appear between the ages of 30 and 50, but with more HD repeats in a family’s DNA symptoms are now showing earlier and earlier. The Marsh and Thompson labs at the University of California, Irvine are working toward finding a cure for Huntington's disease.
The Huntington 's Disease Society of America (HDSA) is holding an annual "Walk for the Cure" to help raise funds for research and patient care. Please help us support the HDSA in their efforts by sponsoring the members of the Marsh and Thompson labs (Team UCI) as they participate in the "Walk for the Cure".
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Any contribution, regardless of size, is greatly appreciated.
If you live in the Irvine area, please come join us: September 26, 2009 at the Chancellor's Rose Garden, UCI campus Registration (free) begins at 8:00 am and the walk begins at 9:00 am. Please visit www.hdsaoc.org for more information. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Sincerely,
Team UCI
