I am seeking to support the Special Olympics! I need to raise at least $1000 to get sent "Over the Edge" of the Financial Bldg in downtown Des Moines on September 19th! 345 feet of rapelling!! WHY AM I DOING THIS??

About 2% of the US (including my son Jaden!) has an intellectual disability. That's 7 million people!! Special Olympics is an international nonprofit helping to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to "become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition.Special Olympics Iowa offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year- round training and competition in 23 Olympic-type sports. Currently, Special Olympics Iowa serves nearly 11,000 Iowans with intellectual disabilities. Through Special Olympics athletes develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image. They grow mentally, socially and spiritually and, through their activities, exhibit boundless courage and enthusiasm, enjoy the rewards of friendship and ultimately discover not only their abilities and talents but 'their voices' as well."
