Tammy, my daughter, Lance, my son-in-law, Mary Manser and Margaret Ketch, my friends, and I are participating in a 4K walk to raise funds for the Heart Transplant Program at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center on October 3, 2010. The event will take place at Verona Park, Verona, New Jersey. We are looking for sponsors who would be willing to donate to this cause. Any donation would be gladly accepted and appreciated. If you would like to sponsor us, just click on either of the two "SPONSOR US NOW" bars on this page.
You will recall that in my "Updates" that I oftened mentioned the great doctors, nurses and staff at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. They were an essential part of God's miracle of "Life" to me along with my donor. This is one small way I can say thank you to them for the compassionate and outstanding care they gave me. The funds raised will used by the Heart Transplant Program to continue to provide the best in medical care for those in need.
Tammy's Message: As most of you know, my father received a heart transplant earlier this year and baring some back problems that had nothing to do with the
transplant, he is doing great. It was the scariest and most emotionally
draining time of my life (aside from his actual heart attack), but I knew
he had THE MOST AMAZING DOCTORS AND NURSES that took care of him at
NEWARK BETH ISRAEL HOSPITAL. NBIH is not the newest, fanciest or most
impressive Hospital around, but what they lack in "glamour," they make
up for in care and success rate of transplants.
For 2 months, I would ride back and forth to the hospital and it became
our new home. The staff never ceased to amaze me by the great attitude they
all had. The janitor, the food staff, everyone always had a warm smile
and welcome that really threw me off in the beginning. I felt like I
was in Ohio instead of Jersey! It seemed like everyone loved their job
and was happy to help in any way which made our lives easier. I can't
say enough about the amazing heart failure and transplant program they
have at NBIH. Although my father still struggles for energy at times, he
has decided to walk in the Heart & Sole Fundraising Walk this October
3rd and has asked me to walk with him. Proceeds will benefit heart
failure and transplant patients who come to NBIH. Please consider
donating using the link below to help us raise money to save lives!
