I'm running the Boulder Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on September 20th to support my best friend from high school, Lon Symensma and my dear friend Sommer Mallow's Grandpa, "Big O".

Lon  was recently diagnosed with stage III-A melanoma. It was a shock to everyone because he lives in NYC, rarely sunbaths, and has no family history of melanoma.

Additionally, I will be wearing a black bracelet in honor of Sommer's Grandpa, Orville Scheel, who was diagnosed with melanoma just over 3 weeks ago.  

We are running to raise money to support the Melanoma Research Foundation through a fundraising program called Miles for Melanoma. Please check out their website: http://www.melanoma.org/

The race is 13.1 miles. My goal is to raise $1000 which is approximately:

$77 per mile,

$39 per half mile,

or $19 per quarter mile.
