Thank you for visiting my DESERT AIDS WALK 2009 page. HIV/AIDS is NOT over!!!! that is why I support the Desert AIDS Project. The DAP provides necessary care and support to many living with HIV/AIDS in the Coachella Valley besides spreading important HIV prevention information to thousands of others. Without the support of the Desert AIDS Project many people would not be able to afford the care and medications needed to continue to live a productive life. Also, since California has eliminated $59 million in vital HIV/AIDS programs supporting the Desert AIDS Project is now more vital and necessary than ever before! Please remind your friends and family of some startling HIV/AIDS statistics...
* 1 out of every 2 new infections occurs in those under the age of 25.
* Every 9 1/2 minutes someone in the United States is infected with HIV.
* The infection rate in the Coachella Valley is 400% greater than the national average.
Donating just $15 can save a life: Fifteen dollars is the approximate cost for Desert AIDS Project to purchase an HIV test kit. We use these kits to provide free and confidential tests.
The State stopped funding HIV testing: Since many people in D.A.P.’s service area are uninsured – they don’t get tested for HIV unless they can do so for free. Increasingly, many such people are showing up in local emergency rooms with symptoms that prove to be full-blown AIDS.
