We are the rising sophomores of the Harvard men's soccer team and we're hoping to get your help with a pretty awesome cause.

Here's the deal: Our team, along with our female counterparts, are involved with a nonprofit organization started by a Harvard grad called Coaches across Continents.  In brief the program uses soccer as a platform through which to educate young children in Africa about things ranging from safely avoiding AIDS and malaria, to speaking up and having your voice heard as a woman.  The program educates coaches, including some of our past and current players, and then sends them off to teach life lessons through the beautiful game of soccer.   The coaches do more than just teach the children themselves however, they work to create a self-sustaining program by educating the teachers and mentors in the African communities so that they can continue to use soccer to teach invaluable lessons.

But anyways, here is where we (and hopefully you) come in.  We are raising money for the program by encouraging generous people like yourselves to pledge a donation for each goal our team scores in the 2009 season.  As a class of soon to be sophomores, Ben, Austin, Tim, Baba and I (Jamie) like to set pretty lofty goals for ourselves.  Our goal for this program is to collect pledges totaling $500 per goal. We scored a total of 36 goals last year and were looking for 40 this year which would mean raising $20,000 for the program!  Individually however, you can pledge as little as $1 per goal or as much as you would like.  It all is a great help to us and the program and we thank you for any form of support you can provide us with! 

If you would like to make just a flat donation email us and we can work with you to sort that out.

This will hopefully be a great way to encourage people to follow our team's success this upcoming fall (although don't pledge so much that you wind up rooting against us scoring a lot of goals) while also raising money for a wonderful cause.

HOW TO DONATE TO OUR GOALS4LEADERS PROGRAM:

There are two ways to donate to the Goals4Leaders program.

1)  Sponsor each Goal
2)  Donate a fixed amount.

To SPONSOR EACH GOAL for any amount equal or more than $1 per goal please fill out the donation area as per the example:

Display Name:  David Beckham
Date:  April 23rd
Amount: $10
Comment:  I would like to sponsor $10 a goal

At the end of the season, please come back to the page and donate your total amount based upon the number of goals that are scored.

If you would like to SPONSOR EACH GOAL for an amount less than $1 per goal, please fill out the donation area as per the example:

Display Name:  Ronaldo
Date: April 23rd
Amount: $1
Comment:  I would like to sponsor $0.75 (seventy five cents) per goal

(The minimum amount that can be filled in the Amount Box is $1 but at the end of the season you will donate $0.75 * number of goals).

At the end of the season, please come back to the page and donate your total amount based upon the number of goals that are scored.

To donate a FIXED amount, simply fill in the dollar figure in the AMOUNT section and in the comment section write FIXED amount.
