James Moy's Page
Hi everyone, it's JT.
I created this page because Paddle Georgia has given me a lot of great memories these past four years, and I'd like to give back by raising money for its parent organization, The Georgia River Network.
I've seen first hand what the Georgia River Network can do; I'd go so far as to say that Paddle Georgia was life changing. Its cause is legitimate and reputable, and it would mean a lot to me if you would donate a couple of dollars here to help them keep our rivers clean and protected.
I've felt your generosity over the years, as manifested in countless Christmas presents or birthday checks. But from now on, I'd like it if you directed your generosity toward a cause that will truly make every dollar count.
While your heartfelt gifts have no doubt been appreciated, the simple fact is that any sum of money in the hands of a teenager tends to be spent on unspeakable amounts of food, clothing, etc., and any other personal gift, no matter how thoughtful, is lost on their painfully short attention span. Legitimate studies have been done to prove what we already know: the adolescent brain is not wired to appreciate anything for long periods of time. This is not to say that I haven't appreciated it, quite the contrary, just that the effects of your generosity would be longer lasting in the hands of people who knew exactly where they could make them count most.
It is with this in mind that I ask you from now on, if you're feeling generous, to donate to Paddle Georgia with me in mind come the Holidays.
