We run for our family... we run for each other...  we run for a cure... and we run for Ruthie!!

Lack of research and understanding in the medical community and social services led to dead end after dead end for us as family members that were attempting to care for our mother Ruthie.  It was only in the last couple of years, with the help of HDSA, Baylor College of Medicine and a few knowledgeable doctors that we were able to understand how the disease was affecting her and just how hard the fight was going to be.  Unfortunately Ruthie Porten's grueling battle with HD ended last fall with her loving family around her. At 64 years of age she was entirely too young to leave this world, yet it was finally the peace she deserved. Ruthie left behind her mother, two sisters, four children, six grandchildren and countless other friends and family. 

Ruthie's passing was not the end of the fight.  It was just the beginning of a new one...  to save our children and our grandchildren from having to suffer the same fate.  We need to find a cure and to do so, we need research.  Your most generous contribution will undoubtedly go a long way to help fund that much needed research.
