Please help me raise funds for an organization close to my heart. Guardian Angel Basset rescue is the largest single breed rescue in the Midwest. Guardian Angel rescues, provides full veterinary care, fosters and hand selects a home for over 300 dogs each year.  Personally we have opened our home to more than 55 fosters since February 2007. 

Someone asked me "why do you volunteer?"  That anwer is easy.  I do it for dogs like Jorja who spent 6 months living in an unheated garage because the new man in her owner's life thought Jorja was stupid.  I do it for dogs like Sophie who was "rescued" as a stray and then spent the next 4 years living outside at the end of a chain.  I do it for puppies like 3-1/2 month old Jefferson that enter our rescue almost 10 lbs. underweight (which is a lot for a little pup) and afraid of the human touch.  

As a foster home, we help each foster prepare for life in their forever homes.  It costs the foster homes very little - just an extra bowl of kibble, our time and a little piece of our hearts.  Guardian Angel Basset Rescue covers the veterinary costs for each foster.  The cost of a typical vetting is approximately $200 - that's if the dog is healthy when entering our rescue.  Dogs like Jessie and Michael (both requiring extensive heartworm treatments) cost much more.   That's where I need your help.

On September 18-19, 2010, Guardian Angel Basset Rescue is holding their 13th Annual Waddle. The Illinois Waddle is a weekend long celebration of the breed attended annually by over 1,000 bassets and their families (yes that's a 1,000 bassets and not a typo).  It is Guardian Angel’s primary source of funding.
