The finish line is near. 

I'm overwhelmed with love for all of you who have supported me, financially, emotionally, and physically. My team, Amy and Karen, have amazed me with their readiness to raise money in my Charlie's memory. 

TEAM CHARLIE'S ANGELS HAS RAISED OVER $10,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. 

That's just mind-blowing. 

We're in our last few days... here's where I remind you that every $15 goes to provide a room close to the hospital for parents whose child is receiving care for anything from a broken bone to life-threatening or end-of-life treatments. 

Ask around... I bet you know a whole handful of people whose lives have been touched by the RMH. I know ours has, even having never spent a night in one (other than to volunteer).

In February 2013, I'll be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon with the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia, in memory of my son, Charlie. 

Yes, that's 13.1 miles. And no, I've not been running all my life... only since June 2012.

And no, I have not lost my mind! Yet. 

Through the years, the Ronald McDonald House has held a special place in my heart. As an ADPi at Auburn, our philanthropy was the RMH. As an adult, I started volunteering with the RMHCG before it even opened its doors.

Over the course of several years, before and after Charlie's birth and death, my family spent time cooking meals for the families staying at The House. I volunteered during the week with my trusty sidekick, Mrs. Gloria. 

Later, I served on the Board of Directors for the RMH of Central GA, and what an honor it was! 

The money raised through these fundraising efforts will go to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia, a "home away from home" for families with children in local hospitals. The House provides a safe and secure environment for families to relax and recharge after long and sometimes painful days at the hospital. 

My money specifically, will be going directly to the Playroom at the RMHCG, which is named in memory of my Charlie who died in 2003 from Late Onset Group B Strep. After his death, we asked for donations to be made to The House and were overwhelmed with response and in turn, the room was named for him.

I've set a lofty goal of $2500, but that only supports The House for a little more than 2 days so it really isn't much. Every dollar counts!

My amazing team, Charlie's Angels, will be rocking the half together - non-runners who decided that dammit, we could do this. 

I'll be wearing every donor's name on my costume so you will (quite literally) be running with me, carrying me through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot!
