I am fundraising for a very important cause, one that has personally affected me and my health. In September 2010, I noticed a blind spot in my right eye. With the encouragement of my fiance, I went on a mission to determine what happened to my eye. I saw numerous specialists, who could not figure out how someone so young and healthy could suffer a blood clot. And then I met my hemotologist and after extensive bloodwork, I had an answer. Factor V and a MTHFR mutation. I was hit with a double whammy! Now, I am managing my conditions and, although my eye damage is irreversible, with education and scheduled testing, I am confident I will be able to dodge another clot.

I am excited to be training in honor of this wonderful cause. I have always enjoyed running and know that staying active and healthy is one way to decrease the chance of forming another clot. I am proud to wear the red dotted shirt to remind others to Stop The Clot!
