Greetings family, friends and community.
Welcome to Myrtle Beach Middle School’s team website for the 2012 Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics of South Carolina. This is the 1st year MBMS has participated in this extraordinary fundraiser that helps pay for the Spring Games taking place in April, which our Special Olympians work very hard for and look forward to.
On February 4th, 2012, our team will plunge into the chilly waters at Springmaid Pier to honor our pledges. Obviously, this is not the ideal time to go swimming in the Atlantic Ocean; however it is for a good cause, therefore the Freezin’ for a Reason theme. This is where we need your help. Our team will be trying very hard to raise enough money to reach our target goal of $2,000.00. We are very hopeful that you will consider a donation to help us help these very special people. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Special Olympics is a wonderful cause and very near and dear to many of our hearts.
Several of our team are parents and teachers of special needs children and been involved with Special Olympics for many years. We have seen the obvious rewards of these competitions where every one is a winner not only in the athletic successes but also in the friendships that have been formed, and it is with great honor to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the needs of our challenged population. In addition, as teachers, staff, counselors, who work with special needs children at Myrtle Beach Middle School, our team would like to see the same opportunities afforded to our students.
