SPECIAL OLYMPICS SOUTH CAROLINA

2010 Freezin' for a Reason Polar Plunge Myrtle Beach,  South Carolina
Training buddies: Jane, Ann, Dow, Steve, Mary and Bailey

Jane Kneece's Fundraising Page

Remember, we are all everyday people...all different...but still just everyday people! Hi to all of our friends, neighbors, and relatives!  As you may (or may not) know, our team works in Special Education at Socastee High School, and it's that time of year...again...the Freezin' for a Reason Polar Plunge.  On January 30, our team will plunge once again into the chilly waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This year will mark the 5th year for this unique fund raising activity to raise money for the Special Olympics and our challenged athletes. Since we have students in our class that are on the SHS Special Olympics team, and since Ann, Dow and I are parents of special needs children, we will be taking the plunge again this year. The plunge will be at Springmaid Pier, and to honor our pledges, we will be there!  This is not the ideal time to go swimming in the ocean, however it is for a wonderful cause, therefore the Freezin’ for a Reason theme. We are trying very hard to raise as much money as we can to help Special Olympics-South Carolina. We are hopeful that you will open your hearts and consider a small donation to help us. We are also in hopes that you will send this information to your friends, releatives, etc. With that said, we are most greatful for ALL donations of ANY size. Special Olympics is a wonderful cause, and it makes the Special Olympians feel so good about themselves.

As a mother of a 33 year old special needs daughter who has Down’s syndrome, [Cheryl and] I have been involved with Special Olympics for many, many years. I have seen the obvious rewards of these competitions where every one is a winner not only in the athletic successes but also in the friendships that have been formed, and it is with great honor to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the needs of our challenged population. In addition, as someone who works with special needs children at Socastee High, my co-workers/teammates/parents and I want to see the same opportunities afforded to our students that my daughter benefited from.  After all...we are all everyday people...all different...but still just everyday people!

Thanking you in advance,

Jane, Ann, Dow, Steve, Mary, Bailey and all the Special Olympians
