I remember a girl named Velda in my 6th grade class who lived briefly at Beloit. She had experienced a difficult family life and was not received well by those in our Roosevelt class, that is, until a few a us learned her story. I'll not forget the day  we heard that she was going back to her family. A group of us girls went to visit Beloit to say goodbye to Velda. She had benefitted much from her stay at Beloit and I have been a quiet supporter of this organization since. It's time for  me get out my tennis shoes and do something besides offer words of support. And that's why you're getting this from me.
