NEW NEEDS: Ella is a less than one year old, black & tan, female bloodhound whose leg was severely damaged. The first attending veterinarian thought she may have gotten it caught in a steel trap. At any rate, her left rear leg has had to be amputated between the hip and knee. The amputation took place about 2 weeks ago and SEBR needs help paying the bills.
Like most rescues these days, Southeast Bloodhound Rescue has been innundated with bloodhounds who are unfortunate victims of our country's current economic downturn. In addition to the routine medical needs of the more than fifty bloodhounds currently in our foster system, there are several who need expensive veterinary care including:
Sadie, a petite 1 year old black & tan female bloodhound who was picked up stray with a severely fractured leg. Sadie is such a love with a zest for life, but she has suffered from a distal spiral fracture of her ulna and radius and needs a very expensive surgery to get her mobile once again so she can fully enjoy life. The animal control unit that picked her up believes she was likely dumped in a common area for this type of activity and was hit by a car. Poor Sadie wants to join in every activity, but needs her leg treated before she is able.
Polk, a 6 year old black & tan male, was quite obviously someone's beloved companion before they could no longer keep him. He is severely heartworm positive and needs to undergo treatment.
Jax, a 3 year old red male, was picked up stray after obviously having been on his own for quite some time. He is a great boy who loves to spend time with his human and canine companions. Jax has severe skin infections, is extremely underweight and a very strong heartworm positive. He is going to require long-term treatment to bring him back into good health.
Daisy is a 16 month old red female whose owner was persuaded to release her to rescue. Even though she has lived most of her short life attached to a logging chain in a back yard, she is learning to enjoy life to its fullest, running and swimming as much as she can manage. She is severely heartworm postive and needs treatment in order to be able to enjoy her life to its fullest.
Buddy is a 5 year old red male who taken from his owner before he could be shot because he was no longer wanted. He is severely heartworm positive and needs to undergo treatment. This big goofy boy loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home.
