Jann Foley, an RN and Certified Nurse-Midwife (nurse practitioner) will be part of the support crew for Race Across AMerica RWB Team Daybreak -- to provide first aid, as well as share the driving of one of the three support vehicles. "Preparing 8,000 calorie meals each day for each cyclist, driving and washing clothes -ha! I will feel right at home!" Jann is married to a wonderful and supportive partner, Jim. Last year they dealt with a crazy year of cancer treatments for Jim. This year, they are seizing the opportunities that life provides. Jann will travel across America twice, while Jim holds down the farm! Jann and Jim share the joy of three (fairly grown up) children, Maggie Benedette, Alice Foley and Kevan O'Rear. Kevan will soon be a "firstie" (senior) at West Point, which is how Jann learned about the 3,000 mile cycling Race Across America. "I wanted to be part of the crew on behalf of those who want to go but can't (regarding the race), and especially for those who have gone, (to far away places to fight on behalf of our country). People need to remember that our veterans have put their lives on the line for us. Our warriors who return with invisible wounds such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) need as much support as those with visible reminders of their efforts. The point of our team RWB (red, white and blue) Daybreak participating in this race is to draw attention to our people who need help. This is what I call a win-win race! If you have ever been a soldier, have a soldier in your family, or have even known a soldier (!), please donate 5,10,20 bucks or whatever and help get us on the road!"
