First of all, thanks for visiting my page for the Polar Plunge into the frigid (and polluted) Potomac River February 27th. My fundraising will support the Special Olympics of Northern Virginia, and I am jumping in honor of my colleague’s children, Casey and Brendan Hammeke. Both are Special Olympics athletes, and I mentor Brendan in his role as a Special Olympics messenger.
This will be my second year participating in the Polar Plunge. I think it was much easier last year jumping in not knowing how it was going to feel. The best way to describe jumping into 40 degree water is to imagine the pins and needles feeling of your foot falling asleep. Well, imagine that over your entire body, but 4 times as strong. That is pretty much how is felt.
While I did not raise a significant amount of money last year, I have been challenged to raise $5,000 for this years plunge. This is a very large number, so every dollar donated helps. If I can reach my goal, Jerry Hulick, the senior planner I work with, will also jump in with me. Talk about EXCITING!!!!!!!!! So please help me reach my goal and come to Tim’s Rivershore on February 27th to watch the plunge.
