Success Preparatory School
Friends-
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I hope you’ll spend 3 minutes reading about Success Preparatory Academy and consider supporting me as I fundraise for the school in 2010.
On December 5th I will be competing in my first full Marathon race in Memphis, TN and I'm running to support Success Preparatory Academy, a charter school in New Orleans that I've become very familiar with over the past year. One of my closest friends is a board member for the school and has been an active member of their academic community since his time as a Teach For America corps member, and I'm excited to help raise money to support the school.
If you are interested in donating, please consider the following levels of support as you read about this amazing school in New Orleans:
$1 per mile = $26.20
$2 per mile = $54.40
$3 per mile = $78.60
$4 per mile = $108.80
I’m motivated to do this because through your donations of support, students at Success Preparatory Academy – a K-4 charter school in New Orleans in which nearly every student qualifies for free or reduced lunch – will be able to achieve stronger academic outcomes this year. It’s that simple. At the school, which you can read about at www.successpreparatory.org, providing the extended day and dual-teacher model means the school needs to raise funds beyond what it receives from state and federal sources. With additional resources, the teachers and leaders can focus more time on preparing college-bound scholars for leadership and lifelong learning. In case you're wondering whether the school really needs your support, it's worth noting that Success Preparatory Academy was one of four 'transformation' charter schools founded by the Recovery School District in 2009. That meant that in its first year the school, which was founded by two successful former principals, took over as the K-3 in a chronically failing K-8 building. The challenges were enormous, but today the school's students are on track to make more academic progress than students in that building have ever before.
Many thanks for your support -- and please consider forwarding this to anyone who you think might want to support SPA's work as well. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure, and it is the most efficient way to support my fundraising effort.
