Hello to all.

My name is Jason Downing, and I have a dream to walk across America, to spread  Spina Bifida awareness.  I was born with this birth defect and was one of the lucky few to have the ability to walk.  I also developed hydrocephalus,  which is when the spinal fuid can not flow freely and builds up inside the head causing pressure on the brain.  A shunt was placed in my head to help pump the fluid away from my brain.  Also I had a brain hemorrhage when I was 4 years old.  I hit my head while playing on the  playground.  The hemorrhage could not be fixed,  so they had to use the shunt to pump the blood away from my brain.  I have had many surguries through out my life, and feel like I am a walking miracle.  So now I would like to  be able to give to those that suffer with Spina Bifida, to give them hope.  So I have decided to walk across America to promote awareness.  I thought it was the best way to use my god given gift , of being able to walk.  I will be starting my trip next year fall 2011.  I am still in the logistical phase but will be updating  my face book page on my planning progress.  So to all my fellow Americans who read this message a donation to the Spina Bifida association and support from all of you will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you to all  who read this, and God bless the freedoms of this country, that many of our fellow country men are fighting for. If it wasn't for them I would not have that freedom to take this journey. SO THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR ARMED SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN!!!!
