It's that time of year again guys. June 10th, I'll be riding Gemini at Cedar Point for charity again.
I am participating in the "Coasting For Kids" event, benefitting Give Kids The World. I will be marathoning on 2 roller coasters at Cedar Point! Donations are flat and not based on how long I ride or how many laps I get in. Your pledge will help provide these special families with a cost-free magical vacation to Give Kids The World, where the families enjoy their own fun times at Central Florida's attractions. Each year over 6,500 children from all 50 states and around the world experience the Village. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
The first 2 years we managed to raise ove $2000. Last year I was in Germany and unable to participate. Let's see if we can raise $1,500 this year!
Donating through this site is simple, fast, and totally secure. Thank you for your support. Please forward this to anyone who you think may also want to help support Coasting For Kids.
In addition to supporting me, I invite you to join me. Register today to participate in this event or one in your area. I hope to see you there! You can participate at any of the Cedar Fair parks around the country.
To give you an idea of what happens at the event, I'll tell you what hapened over the last few years. In 2009 the group has managed to raise over $10,000, $30,000 in 2010 and $60,000 for a total of over $100,000!
The event is a blast. Though, I was pretty sore the days after the event. Many of us tried to see how many laps we could get. I had a talley counter to keep track and every few laps someone would ask me where we were at. Throughout the day we got several funny looks from guests. Many people asked us what we were doing. Many people wanted to know why we got ot ride without geting off. So, I think the knowledge of "Give Kids the World" was significantly spread throughout the day. Many people cheered us on as the Excellent ride crew posted updates on our progress fairly regularly. With all of us being on one side of the coaster and the GP all being on the other side, I think I would be accurate in saying that this was probably one of the most interactive days in a long time for Gemini. We had almost everyone slapping hands on every run. Lots of Taunting back and forth. It was a blast.
