Jason and Adrienne's Fundraising Page
Friends,
On Sunday, October 25th, Adrienne and I will be taking part in the 14th Annual Walk and Candlelight Vigil for the Melrose Alliance Against Violence (MAAV). The purpose of this walk is to honor victims of domestic violence and raise awareness and funds for MAAV's prevention programs.
We have been a part of this walk for the past 3 years, and over that time, we have learned a lot about domestic violence and we are doing our part to help raise awareness, educate people, and raise funds to help prevent domestic violence.
It's 10:55 on a Monday night and we are looking over various facts and statistics, discussing the many stories we have heard about victims of domestic violence. We want to emphasize how frequent domestic violence occurs, but we don't know how to stress the unfortunate regularity of domestic violence around the world.
Then the 11:00 news comes on the TV in the background. "Breaking news...a 23-year old girl found dead in Clinton, MA...suspect said to be her ex-boyfriend...the two had been dating on again off again..this was not random...this was a case of domestic violence." Sadly, our struggle to make a point is quickly resolved.
It is often said that evil happens when good people do nothing. Domestic violence happens has often has every two minutes (see video), but good people can do something to help prevent it.
Please make a contribution to MAAV to support their work of the many "good people" who are trying to prevent "evil." Every little bit counts and each donation will go a long way in helping MAAV run mentor programs and make awareness programs accessible for students.
Thank you.
