Bird-a-thon 2011
Thank you for visiting my Bird-a-thon fundraising page. In two weeks I will be participating in Mass Audubon's 24-hour birding event. This will be my fifteenth Bird-a-thon. My brother, a friend, and I will be heading to Western Massachusetts to look and listen for as many different species of birds in a 24-hour period. Last spring we reached a personal best of 110 different species of birds. I will be birding for the Trailside Museum, a Mass Audubon Sancturay I have been volunteering at for twenty years. 100% of the money I raise will go to a snowy owl telemetry project run by the museum's director. Each winter the director traps snowy owls at Boston's Logan Airport. These owls are outfitted with small transmitters and their movements are then tracked by satellite. The data gathered over the past few years has offered new insights into the lives of snowy owls that make their way this far south.
I hope you will consider contributing to this ongoing scientific study.
With deep appreciation,
Jay
