Thank you for visiting my Polar Plunge fundraising page. They say anyone with a little guts and a warm heart can take the Plunge and I am one of those folks. I’m collecting donations from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who wants to support the nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 4,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 of Special Olympics Illinois! Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
Happy (cold days of the) New Year!
I wanted to get this out to everyone earlier, life is busy, work is busy, can I really do this again this year.....? And then I wonder how can I even ask that question, ITs not about jumping in the lake, ITS about being involved! ITs about caring, ITs about seeing those wonderful athletes and families who train, participate, and benefit from reaching out to everyone I know to sponsor me to sponsor them!!!!!The first Saturday of March 2011 we, (PATS ARMY AND CARQUEST TEAM) will plunge into the icy waters of Lake Michigan at Sunrise Beach Lake Bluff Illinois , Tommy Skilling WGN weather man says that last weekend in February and first week of March are the COLDEST WATER TEMPERATURES of LAKE MICHIGAN, no kidding!!!!!!
These are hard economical times, I work in the building industry, and see the impact on everyday lives, and then I think of the needs, determination, and the commitment of our Special Athletes that includes a lifetime. And I reach out to you for help for them!
So here it is time to put on the costume ( last year our team won with the Flintstones), this year SUPERHERO'S, then down to the suit for the swim to the paramedics (our protectors), and then the celebration of an enduring mission with the athletes and families and other polar plungers folks, and finally to give thanks to you, the special people who may or may not sacrifice to donate what you can. Please know that every dollar helps - goes directly to more than 22,000 Illinois Special Athletes who compete both locally, district, and at state levels. All supported by the Illinois Torch Run Polar Plunge! And once again for those who may never have seen the first year on u tube video, but get your hot chocolate ready!
