Jeannie McMahon's Fundraising Page
Dear friends and family,
This year I'm walking to make everyone aware of the dangers of BLOAT.
It's a condition common to German Shepherds and all deep -chested dogs, even little ones. Air is trapped in the stomach and literally pulls the stomach, spleen and more away from the lining. If not treated immediately, the dog dies. Bruschi bloated on July 5th. I knew he was in trouble as he was clearly uncomfortable. I rushed him to the hospital and he had 4 hours of surgery. He lost his spleen, but he lived to come home a few days later. He has a lot of staples, .
He's pictured here wrapped in his Thundershirt which kept him calm and covered the many staples. He didn't "chew" at them so didn't have to wear the big cone! The entire incident was very frightening. I want everyone to know the symptoms of BLOAT. BLOAT surgery is very expensive. (Over $3000). German Shepherd Rescue of New England is constantly vigilant with the health of the dogs in our foster care. Please help me raise funds to help us pay for any dogs that may BLOAT while in our care. I hope to set up a special Bru's fund to help other dogs
Please contribute and help me to help my dogs!! This is the time I really need YOUR support.
Thank you,
Jeannie, Miya and Bruschi.
