AIDS Ride for Life 2011
Fortunately, I've never had to watch anyone suffer from AIDS. I have heard plenty of heartwrenching stories, though, from a mixture of people -- some I've known well and some I haven't know at all. The stories that have come from people I haven't known meant just as much to me as those from my friends and colleagues, for they were sharing their emotions and personal stories with a perfect stranger (me) ... and all because of their deep resolve and intense passion for alleviating any and all pain associated with past, present and future AIDS victims. As I said before, I have heard many stories, but all it took was one to convince me that I wanted to do something to help. I cannot imagine the turmoil I would be in if someone close to me began suffering from AIDS. I can, however, imagine a cure. I am also aware that there are a multitude of organizations in place to reach out to victims and their families. These organizations offer support and guidance to decrease transmission and to help victims lead healthy, happy lives. On September 10th of this year I will be riding 100 miles around Cayuga Lake as part of an event to commemorate the efforts of many to alleviate the pain and suffering associated with AIDS. All proceeds will go to the Southern Tier AIDS Program (http://www.stapinc.org/). Please help me raise as much as possible to support this cause. Anything will help -- even if you only have a dollar to spare. Thank you for your support. Much love.
