2006 SUPER Plunge
Thank you for visiting my "SUPER Plunge" fundraising page. I will join Some Unbelievable Plungers who Enter Repeatedly once an hour every hour for 24 hours in Lake Michigan in on Feb. 17-18, 2006.
I have three reasons for doing this CRAZY event.
1. It was my idea to bring the SUPER Plunge (something I borrowed from Special Olympics Maryland) to Illinois and, if I ask anyone else to do something crazy, I have to be willing to do it myself.
2. Special Olympics Illinois is more than a job to me - I truly believe in the cause. These athletes and families inspire me to do CRAZY things to support them. Special Olympics changes lives! 3. Finally, I am dedicating my SUPER Plunge to the memory of one of my best friends and co-workers, Ron Knisley. Ron, who died of cancer in October, took the plunge in 2005 for the first time dressed as a pink ballerina - the result of a challenge I made to him. I agreed to wear the Saturday Night Live Chris Farley Chippendale's costume (picture on this page). In his honor, I'll enter the water for the 24th plunge of the SUPER Plunge wearing pink tutus. As a SUPER Plunger, I'm collecting pledges from family, friends, co-workers, businesses and anyone else who wants to show their support for Special Olympics Illinois athletes. For every business that donates $100 or more to my effort, I will take the plunge wearing an article of clothing bearing your company name or logo. Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in sports training and competition. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois Many thanks for your support - and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Thanks, Jeff Henson
