Delaney’s Story
Delaney is a beautiful 3-year-old girl with an unending smile and a spirit to match. However, with a variety of special needs and weighing only 17 pounds, she is far from thriving in her orphanage in Rostov, Russia. As an older child with special needs her chances of being adopted were getting smaller every day, but her need for a family and improved medical care were only growing.
Debi was a single mother and kindergarten teacher. She adopted 3-year-old Savanah from China in 2009 and soon after began thinking about adopting again. She wanted a sibling for Savanah so she began the process again. This time, however, things moved much faster than anticipated and Delaney soon entered her life.
Despite not having enough time to save for the adoption, she felt in her heart that she was meant to be Delaney's mother. So she scraped every dime and worked tirelessly at fundraising. She was able to pay more than $25,000 in costs, but it wasn’t enough. However, a $3,500 grant from the Gift of Adoption will now provide the last bit of funding needed to finalize this adoption and bring Delaney home.
